The Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales are a bunch of fairy tales that Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm made into a book. These fairytales may be similar to some of our American fairytales that say Disney puts out there but the Grimm fairytales are just that, Grim. While on the other end of the spectrum Disney Fairy tales are very tame and mostly have happy endings with little death as to keep the innocence of the children. There are settle differences in disney fairytales and grim brothers. One major difference between Disney’s Snow White is that instead of the evil step-mother just keeping the heart in a box she ate it instead. I was a little surprised because i grew up with the disney version. Another difference in Snow White is that when the queen was disguised as the old lady she uses a poison apple in the Disney version and a poison comb in the Grimm version. There are settle differences but overall the story is the same in both just with different details on each. Another popular tale in both countries is Cinderella. In the Grimm or old version of Cinderella, toes and heels are chopped off in order to fit the foot in the slipper and a bird warns the price every time they try to trick him, but you will not see that in the Disney version. Also in Cinderella, there is a magic tree on the her dead mothers grave that supplies presents instead of the disney fairy god mother i grew up with. Also the step sisters' eyes are not pecked out at the wedding. Another tale that is different is Little Red Riding Hood, in the American version people do not kill and cut open the wolfs stomach to save little red riding hood and her grandmother. The Grimm version of fairy tales may be more graphic and have serious parts but both Grimm Fairytales and Disney/ American fairy tales both take the reader to a fantasy land and in the end the reader learns a valuable lesson and gains many great memories, i used to love watching disney fairytales when i was a just a little guy.
